Interview Quotes:

“A lot of them don't want to tell about their background and how they might know about this or that and I mean the knowledge of knowing how they, you know, being in prison, a lot of people don't want to tell and expose all of their themselves.”

“They might be ashamed.”

“Just the thought about what scared about and just see what's really going on with you.”

“Just being part of a study. You're like, what is that? You're not even gonna do anything with this. Like, what do you want to talk to me for? That, but also the fear of like if I say something like, is that going to get back to my PO?”

“I think that there's some hesitation to talk about this because the world makes it so taboo still. Like, if you're justice-involved and maybe you, maybe you don't want your healthcare provider to know that, and this is a scary thing.”

“I do wonder if justice-involved women would be nervous to accept like a visa card like payment because you have to report so many things and I don't know if that's one of them. abut I know If you, depending on how justice-involved you are, if you have a PO like I think you have to keep them on the up and up about activities and like house work and blah blah blah. And I don't know how that factors in. Just the logistics of like getting paid and talking about this I think is going to be and you kind of said that at the beginning just like it's very hard.”
